African American Arts and History in Dallas, Texas

There is a special section in the museum dedicated to preserving black art and architectural pieces. The artwork preserved here is dynamic and each piece conveys a message. This museum has several art pieces on display like black sculptures, paintings, the earliest known baptism certificate dated 1595, slave inventories, slave insurance policy, shackles, and much more. This museum is one place you can visit to learn all about black history.

Facing the Sun Exhibit

The other section museum” Facing the rising sun”- displays what death and life were like a century ago. This section also exhibits artifacts from the early black civilizations and also burial remains of the African American community from the times of the civil war.

The souls of black Folk Exhibit

This museum has one of the largest collections of African American Folk art. The museum houses pieces from the early 18th century. The most famous piece of this exhibit is a silver spoon made by Peter Bentzon more than 170 years ago.

Photography of Motown and Jazz

Motown and Jazz photography is a major attraction here. The museum contains numerous famous photography masterpieces from Motown and Jazz.
